| Padding into the sandy clearing Rosestar sighed a little impatiently to herself still not quite sure why she hadn't fobbed the dog off to Rockybolt to train. Surely a dog training another dog would be easier than her attempting to be patient with the pup. Pacing around the clearing she managed to get herself under some form of control Right we'll focus on defensive fighting, scouting for prey, scouting for predators and something prey related she decided, she didn't know what kind of hunting the dog knew yet but she supposed she'd find out. Pausing as she heard loud pawsteps a sly look crept onto the ginger she wolfs face, turning she spread her scent through the area some more before vanishing into the bushes and circling around. When the apprentice pranced into the clearing where she'd basically ordered for him to show up in she waited patiently until she leapt out of the bushes and landed neatly on his back pinning him to the ground and resting her large orange paws on his back "Tardiness is not something you should get accustomed to Angus, next time you will be on time or you'll get gathering moss for the clans beds again" stepping off of his back she moved around to stand infront of him studying him "First off we'll start with scouting out prey, you can't hunt prey if you can't find it first of all" the short tempered female informed him calmly enough. Taking a deep inhale of the crisp morning air the smell of plenty of prey came to her sharp nose, however she waited for the dog to tell her what he thought he smelled | |

| Somehow he'd lost track of time and now he was late. His mentor wasn't going to be happy with him, oops. Following her scent to where she'd told him to meet her, he bounded in, getting confused at first with the different layering of her scent in the clearing. Soon finding the freshest bit, he was following it closely when something leapt on him. With a yelp, he flattened to the ground and tried to roll over before realising who it was and wagging his tail in greeting.“I didn't mean to be late,” he explained, wriggling out of her hold and shaking the dust off his red and white coat. Taking a quick glance at her, he for once decided not to argue too much and put his nose into the wind, half closing his eyes as he sniffed. There were so many nice scents that he wanted to follow, and most of them probably weren't what his mentor would be wanting him to look for. Trying to stop getting distracted, he soon figured out the most familiar scent, wagging his tail happily. “Mouse!” | |

| Waiting for him to speak his announcement of mouse made her send an exasperated look at him "Do not waste energy on mice! A mouse wouldn't feed an elder or a warrior, when it comes to wolves you spend more energy catching the mouse than you do when you eat it" she informed him sharply flicking her ears back in annoyance "Smell again" Rose ordered him, she could smell deer, but that would be far too large for the dog to take down on his own. Raccoons would put up a good fight but the dog wasn't really one for fighting, so it'd have to be rabbits and Pheasants to start off with. Rosestar was quite fond of Pheasant as it was a sizable bird but it was easy to catch as well, the dog should be able to pick out the smells as he would have smelt them on the fresh kill pile. An ear flicked at a birds song, figuring out it wasn't one of alarm she returned her attention back to the dog waiting for him to respond with what he could smell. He was quite different from her previous apprentice, feeling the familiar guilt at the disappearance of Aspenpelt she wondered if she'd taught her better if her friend would still be around. She'd make sure to be extra hard on Angus to train him better than she trained Aspenpelt so he wouldn't die or go missing. | |

| Huffing slightly, he gave her a sideways glance and didn't argue. Mice were find to live off, he knew it well. Still, he was here to learn, so he obediently lifted his nose again, trying to sort through the other smells that were on the wind. “Um... a bird. It smells feathery. And it's been on the fresh kill pile, but I dunno what it's called.” Even though he wasn't sure what it was, they'd been eating it, so obviously it was prey. Sorting through the scents a bit more he sneezed suddenly, shaking his head a little to rid his nose of the itch. “Deer, but I don't think you'd want me to try that just yet. Anndd.... rabbit. And more mice,” he added offhandedly, getting into the listing of all that he could smell. | |

| Listening to his words she just sighed, if he ever brought a mouse back to camp that would be what he was living on for the next moon"Right we'll focus on the birds, show me your hunting crouch and stalk" she informed him in her usual blunt way. Scratching the shoulder scars that as usual itched she listened to the sounds of the forest, she loved Thunderclan territory during summer. The Forests were truly alive, the sun was warm along her back and put her in a good mood, as she waited for the dog to show her what he could do. He'd survived on his own for a bit so she was expecting for him to be able to have a semi decent crouch that they could improve on. Worried about her clan as normal her features became a little drawn, with leaf fall fast approaching it was likely that Nightstar would begin pushing at the Thunderclan border since he disliked her. | |

| Nodding, he sniffed around for the birds a bit more, pinpointing where they were. Finding a bit of cover, he settled into the crouch that he'd worked out for himself over the few months of living on his own. Waiting there patiently and quietly, he worked out where the bird was and began moving forward, carefully stalking the bird and trying to avoid the sticks and crackly leaves on the ground. Finally getting as close as he dared, he wriggled his butt and leapt for the bird, snagging a wing. Nearly losing it, they both crashed to the ground, he pounced again clumsily and buried his teeth into the bird's neck. Shaking his head, the broke the neck and trotted proudly back to Rose, depositing it at her feet and sitting. Feathers still drifted through the air lazily, and he sneezed as one tickled his nose. | |

| Watching her apprentice move off, Rosestar sighed quietly somewhat amused at the dogs behaviour, tilting her head at his crouch Well thats gotten better at least thank starclan he'd been quite the disaster at first so it was good to see he was progressing. The dog avoided sticks and leaves where he might alert the prey to his presence fairly well, nearly snorting as the male waggled his behind not unlike a cat about to pounce when he finally leapt forward and crashed rather ungracefully into the bird. He grabbed it by its wing and managed to silence it, he deposited it at her feet and sat sneezing at a stray feather "Cover it with dirt we're going to work on your crouch a bit more, one bump and you would have toppled over. Apart from wagging your butt like a forsaken cat you did pretty well" praise from her wasn't often so when it was spoken it was genuine and meant quite a bit. Once he was crouching again she circled him and made improvements to his posture and placement of paws before finally he was in a good solid crouch where he wouldn't topple over. | |

| Digging a quick hole and shoving the bird in there, he couldn't resist having a roll in the freshly turned over earth as well, turning his white coat more brown. Standing up, he shook and tilted his head, listening closely to her instructions. Settling into his crouch, he fell over when she poked him the first time, and just wagged his tail, a snort of laughter leaving him. Happy to try again until she was pleased with him, he worked on her corrections eagerly. “So like this?” he finally asked, hoping that he'd got it right this time. | |

| The apprentices move to roll was a little amusing but she didn't comment, if anything the added layer of brown would help him blend in a bit more. A smirk wound its way onto her face as the male fell over when she corrected him a burst of laughter escaping from him. Correcting him again and again finally he had it right and she nodded with approval at his question "Yes, good" she nodded with approval "Now try hunting something else, once you've got it sussed we'll try some defensive fighting. We'll go somewhere else and i'll get you to find some more prey to hunt" His noises would have scared off the prey from now anyway, leaving the bird for the to come back to later she lead the way through to another piece of their territory the pond where animals came to drink. She figured this place would work as well as any, he seemed to enjoy the water so if he got bored of hunting big animals he could have a go with fish although she wasn't a big one for catching fish herself. | |

| Nodding, and pleased with himself, the setter cast his nose into the air again once she’d found somewhere else she wanted to hunt, finding it easier to pick up scents on the wind than on the ground. Finding a strong rabbit smell, he settled into the crouch again, remembering the corrections and putting them into play as well. Finding it much easier now to creep through the bushes, he following the scent closely, crouching lower once he was as close as he dared to get. Patiently holding still while he studied the rabbit, he stepped forward a few more paces before bolting out at the fluffy creature. It took him on a bit of a chase, and he very nearly lost it, but eventually he managed to catch it. Proudly bringing it back to Rosestar, he wagged his tail happily, dropping it at her feet. He’d caught two big things one after another – and it was his first time hunting not mice! Getting slightly distracted by the water, he wandered over to it, pawing at the surface gently and pushing his nose into it to snorkel playfully. Remembering that he was supposed to be learning things, he looked up at her with a slightly guilty look. “So what now? Fighting?” He wasn’t exactly keen on it, but he’d have to learn at least some moves to defend himself, he supposed. | |

| Quite pleased with him and his catch she allowed him to be a pup for a moment in the water, smirking at the guilty look she lead him up out of the water "We'll start with defensive movements, I'll teach them to you and then we'll have a mock fight" she explained to him calmly, once she had his attention she continued "The most important technique is tucking your tail in so other's cant bite it, its a well kept thunderclan secret" half turning she showed him how she tucked her tail in out of reach "This is difficult as it means you have to learn how to balance yourself without your tail. However its worth the time spent learning it" Rosestar chuckled a brief moment "Its great seeing their faces when attackers go to bite your tail and find its tucked away out of reach" she remembered it taking her quite a long time to perfect, remembering learning with Thistlepaw her gaze glittered with grief for a quiet moment. Acting like it hadn't shown at all she nodded at the dog to ask him to do it, she didn't have high expectations for him, he was still a pup really and was so quick to turn to play. He worried her, she didn't want to see the goofy dog get hurt by anyone especially not with shadowclan being particularly leery at the moment. | |

| Giving a sigh, he sat and paid attention to what she was saying. He really wasn't interested in all in learning how to fight, but it was probably essential to at least know a few things. Studying how she'd positioned her tail, he got to his feet and tried it, trying to keep still from wagging. It didn't quite work, the fluff on his tail tickling him a bit, and he gave up after a few moments to scratch a little. “It tickles,” he explained quietly, but he tried again. He did want to please her, and he really loved learning. It was just the fighting part that he wasn't all that enthused about. | |

| Smirking a little as the pup kept wagging his tail and tickling himself, she just shook her head when he gave up and scratched where his feathery tail had tickled him. She didn’t bother scolding him for it, he couldn’t help it, after all she’d seen enough of the dog by now to know that he wanted to please and that he tried his best. After teaching him some defensive moves she’d return to hunting, he had a good nose and should find scouting for prey easily enough even if the hunting part wasn’t as easy for him. Patiently waiting until he had it right, she nodded her approval when he finally had it “Good, now, another defensive move is to leap away out of reach of an attack. Essentially a dodge” crouching down slightly into a position similar to her hunting stance and leapt backwards suddenly as if out of reach of an enemy attack. She then preformed a similar movement except to the left, straightening up she studied the pup who was still a gangly thing and quietly had doubts that he’d be able to manage it but he had to learn. If they were going to give bigger prey a go or scouting for predators he had to learn how to keep himself from getting hurt, keeping her own thoughts private however she nodded for Angus to give it ago“If you need some encouragement I can always leap at you” she added with her smirk returning, it crept up her muzzle rather crookedly, admittedly she was fond of the red and white dog although it’d be like pulling teeth to get her to admit it. | |

| Doing his best to get it right, he bounced when she finally approved that he was getting there. Watching closely, he hesitated at the thought of ever being in a fight, his ears flattening against his head for a split second. he didn't want to ever hurt anyone, that was why he'd been dumped as a puppy. Giving a sigh, he watched her quietly, very unenthused about it. But she wanted him to learn it, so he'd at least give it a shot. Getting up from his sit, he made a half hearted attempt at a dodge. He didn't want to learn how to fight, he just wanted to stick with tracking prey and being able to feed himself and his new family. | |

| Season |
Leaf-Fall has finally started, with the nights gradually getting cooler. Perhaps snow is on the way, perhaps it will be late this year. Either way, the dark shadow that was over the clans seems to have finally lifted, leaving them in peace for now to stock up on rpey for the coming cold months.
This season's successful numbers are: 1, 3, and 8
