Antpaw padded through the marshy ShadowClan land, heading to the location where her new mentor had indicated they'd train in. She wasn't certain how things would be with Bramblerose. Bramblerose was rather cold and irritable, but Antpaw supposed that didn't matter. She only needed someone who could teach her the skills she'd one day need as a warrior. Her old mentor's personality hadn't been much better, anyways. He was a rather strict and grumpy wolf. One morning he just disappeared, not to Antpaw's surprise. She'd overheard him speaking about leaving a few days prior.

Slowing to a stop in the indicated training area, Antpaw sat down and waited for her mentor to arrive. She didn't really have a preference as to which skills they'd work on first. Perhaps fighting. Antpaw had shown some skill when it came to fighting and wanted to perfect that. She also knew that hunting was important as well, however. I'll get to both of those skills eventually. The order I learn them in doesn't matter, she decided.

She'd been lurking in the shadows waiting for her apprentice, this was her first apprentice and she was determined to do well. Ever since she'd been passed up by Graystar for the opportunity to mentor an apprentice she'd had a burning seething darkness inside. Finally being appointed a mentor had soothed the burning mess in her heart, silently thankful that Nightstar had appointed her mentor of Antpaw she made up her mind. Slipping out of the shadows she greeted her apprentice "Hello Antpaw, Welcome to your training, First we'll work on some fighting moves as you use those when hunting as well." she waited to hear her apprentices reply unsure if there was anything she wanted classified before going on to say "First you want to have a strong balanced stance, this stops you from being bowled over easily " she changed her stance into the one that had worked for her, braced and ready to take hits as well as deal them out herself. As she showed her apprentice the correct stance she silently went over what would be best to teach Antpaw first fighting wise before deciding on offensive fighting. After all a good defense was a good offence, or was it the other way around? She wasn't quite sure so she kept quiet and instead watched Antpaw waiting for her to copy the stance.

Antpaw looked up in surprise when Bramblerose stepped out of the shadows. She hadn't realized that her mentor had already arrived. I'll need to be more alert. If Bramblerose had been an enemy warrior, Antpaw would have been ambushed. "Hello, Bramblerose," she greeted her mentor. The black-furred apprentice listened to what Bramblerose had to say, giving a nod when she stated that they'd start with fighting moves. Antpaw was content with the decision, and watched as her mentor showed her a fighting stance. After she had finished, Antpaw stood up and did her best to mimic Bramblerose's position. "Is this right?" she asked.
