Coalpaw veamed happily at her leader. "Thank you Rosestar!" she yipped as she scrambled to her paws and began to follow Rosestar back to camp. Along the way she wondered what she should tell Eclipsepaw. Upon this thought she instantly decided it would be better as a surprise.

Following the scent with his nose glued to the ground, it took the young irish setter a few moments to realise that not all was right in the Maple Forest. There were too many leaves on the ground for the season. Looking around warily, he took in the leafless trees, unconsciously sitting as he stared. The trees were bleeding. Shivering at a sudden change in the weather, he glanced up instinctively at the sun, and managed a very quick glance before having to look away again, pawing at his eyes. The sun was going away too! Worried about the trees, he sniffed at a few of the heavier bleeding ones, his hackles lifting a little. There was a weird sensation of being watched, but when he spun he couldn't see anyone there. Not liking it any more, he retraced his steps, moving as quickly and quietly as he could. Rosestar needed to know that all was not right. Something was very wrong.

Turning up first and glancing around her fur stood on end in reaction to the unnerving feeling that surrounded the silent forest. Not a bird was singing, not a breath of wind, and every single leaf on the maple trees lay on the ground, brown, dry and crinkly. The dog had been right, the trees were oozing bright crimson sap that looked like they were bleeding, gulping and feeling her tail tuck very firmly the sensation of being watched distracted her from waiting for Rosestar and Leopardstrike. Shifting her weight about uncomfortably a twig snap made her jump before she realized that it was Rosestar, sighing in relief she resisted the urge to press close to the leader of the clan for reassurance. Wishng she could say something and break up the silence that shrouded the forest she played with some leaves in an effort to break up the silence but soon stopped at the look that was thrown her way. Waiting impatiently for Leopardstrike, the white warrior just wanted to go home, she fidgeted helplessly feeling like there were eyes boring into the back of her head and yet when she looked for the source of those eyes there was nothing

Acutely aware of the lack of sound in the forest, it drove her mad as if she'd never hear anything ever again, wondering if this was what it felt like to be deaf she jumped herself when she snapped the twig the noise sounding unnaturally loud due to the silence. Annoyed when Ghostwhisper distracted her by playing with some leaves, she finally noticed the scene before her once it was silent again. The branches of the maple trees that should be filled with bright green leaves were bare, on closer inspection she could see thick bright crimson sap flowing out of cracks of the trees as if they'd been cut and were slowly bleeding out. She didn't know much about plants but remembered vaguely learning that sap was like a trees blood, if the trees were bleeding then what did that spell for the rest of the clan? Was it a sign from Starclan? No wonder the dog had been spooked, she was spooked just standing here, gathering herself somewhat and pushing her fears below the surface where they could simmer in place a cold look from the shadows caused the red leader to spin about rather sharply. However there was nothing there, scowling darkly she growled sharply intending to discover who or what was watching them with a look that felt like teeth were being ripped into her scarred hide.

The scene before her was reminiscent of a nightmare. The barren trees and lack of ambient sounds gave the place a desolate feeling. Her hackles raised and her green eyes scanned the forest for any sign of danger. How could this have happened? It's not leaf-fall. It was quite perplexing. She was about to head over to one of the maples to investigate further when she heard a twig snap. Immediately she was on the defensive, but soon enough realized that it was only Ghostwhisper. She flicked her ears with annoyance and walked over to the other two wolves. She kept quiet, not wanting to draw attention lest she put her Clanmates at risk. Instead, she gave Rosestar an inquiring look and waited for the leader's further instructions.

Ghostwhisper ignored Leopardstrikes look and instead focused on what was around her, her pale blue eyes picking up on slight movement in the bushes. Desperately wanting to tell the others what she'd seen the white wolf didn't get the chance, the huge white male of the dark forest rushed forward and knocked her to the ground pinning her beneath his paws. His white fur glowed unnaturally as if he was thriving in the semi darkness without the sun, struggling silently she tried to whine and call out and as usual could not. She'd wandered off from the others and so they didn't notice her plight especially without her to call out, the male was quick he didn't take the time to torture her like he would have enjoyed instead he killed her with a good sharp bite to her neck and in doing so tore out her throat. Watching as her spirit ascended from the warm corpse tha tmoments ago had been a body the male grabbed the spirit and vanished with it, dragging it with him to the dark forest. He hid in the shadows watching with a savage glee as Ghostwhisper awoke. The white female awoke with a start and sat up staring around not understanding, was this where starclan was? It seemed too dark, too quiet, too creepy, shifting her weight on her paws she didn't realize where she was until Eclipsestar revealed it ot her making her go cold with terror. She was in the dark forest, and she'd never escape.

Padding quietly through the forest, the lack of leaves was worrying the small red female. It was only scorpionstar, the leaves should still be on the trees. Twitching her ears at the feeling of being watched, she nevertheless wasn't too fazed by it. She'd been watched before in her dreams and vigils, and this was just a new place with new watchers. Pausing as the smell of blood came to her, her black tipped ears perked forward, and she broke into a trot, following the scent. She was a healer, she had to help whoever needed it. Slowing when she came across the white female, it was heartbreakingly clear that she might be too late already. Still, the fallen wolf would require help to reach her ancestors, whoever they were. Humming a quiet tune to ease the fallen spirit, Song gently tended to the body, doing her best to help her on her way before sitting off to the side to watch over her in silence. Tidying the herbs she'd used back into the bag she'd found in her wanderings, she placed her paws neatly together to be comfortable while she stayed. Her striking dark violet eyes closed and she let her mind wander, wondering if she'd still be able to get dreams and signs in this strange place. It was so different to her old home, and she missed her family so much it hurt, but she knew that she couldn't go back. They'd all been taken and separated, and there was no way for her to find her way back now.

Due to the silent nature of the attack, Rosestar hadn’t noticed what was happening to Ghostwhisper as she was distracted by what she thought was a wolf watching them from the bushes. Something however got her attention, and spinning around a shout of pain left the leader, galloping forward to Ghostwhisper pain and guilt over came the she wolf. Ghostwhisper had only just returned home to Thunderclan, and now she was dead “Crystalheart? Crystalheart no!” forgetting what she’d renamed the wolf in favor for her original name that she’d known the white she wolf by. Somewhere during her grief she noticed the red wolf, with strange violet eyes that padded over and did the best she could for Ghostwhisper however it seemed that she was too late. Washing her tongue over the silent warriors ears and fur, the small red wolf felt an immense amount of guilt that threatened to drown her. Taking a long deep breath the female turned her gaze and focus to the stranger, it was kind of her to try and help “I’m Rosestar of Thunderclan, thank you for trying to save Ghostwhisper, what is your name stranger? Why are you in these parts?” her voice was soft and thick with pain, there was no way in her mind that the quiet red wolf was the culprit of this attack. No, there was no way, it was more than clear to her, that whomever had done this was cruel and wicked and evil. She had to keep it together, until she was by herself, keeping the unhappiness and misery to herself, continuing to take long deep breaths, breathe, she had to breathe.

Opening her eyes at the cries of pain, Song watched with compassion in her gaze as the bright ginger wolf came bounding over. Maybe the two had been related, or perhaps in the same tribe. Still, she kept her thoughts and questions to herself, pacing backwards a few steps to give the grieving female some space. Watching as the self-proclaimed Rosestar managed to steady herself and ask questions, the smaller female waited until she was done talking before she spoke herself. “I am Song of the Sky, shaman of my tribe. I am sorry for your loss of a champion.” Her voice as always was quiet, sympathy evident in her tone. “I'm merely wandering, I apologise if I was trespassing.” She hadn't noticed any scent markers in her travels, but then again she had been quite preoccupied in her thoughts, and could very easily have missed smelling them. Luckily for her, this wolf didn't seem like she was going to attack her. Her fur prickled, and she turned her head calmly, knowing that there were others watching, yet she knew that non-shamans wouldn't be able to see them. She wasn't afraid, one day she'd join the ranks of those who had passed. Whether it came today, or in a few months was merely up to the stars.

Leopardstrike awaited Rosestar's next instructions while keeping alert for any sign of danger. She hadn't noticed anything and was beginning to think that the forest was the only thing to worry about when Rosestar let out a cry of pain. Leopardstrike's pelt bristled and she faced the direction Rosestar had run off in, only to notice the limp form of Ghostwhisper. Her heart dropped. No. It can't be. This... this couldn't have happened. Leopardstrike stood frozen in place, her green eyes wide with horror. Only a short time ago Ghostwhisper had been fine. She'd just joined the Clan. And now... now.... She hadn't even welcomed her own cousin back into the Clan. She had been so selfish, angry that her family had left her, and now she'd never be able to say how glad she was that Ghostwhisper had returned. Forcing her paws to move forward, Leopardstrike stopped beside Ghostwhisper's body, her ears pinning back with grief. She hardly paid the loner any attention, still shocked over what had happened and feeling guilty that she'd ignored Ghostwhisper the entire time she'd been back in the Clan.

The bright orange she wolf listened quietly as the wolf introduced itself as song of the sky, her mind naturally changing it into a name she understood. Skysong. Nodding the leader spoke "You were, however I have no intention to punish you for it" the other wolf had tried to save ghostwhisper after all, looking down at the defeated warrior her gaze saddened again. Crystalhearts bright white fur had been darkened, stained with crimson red blood, they needed to get her back to camp and they needed to send out a patrol, likely with her at the head to get rid of whomever had done this to poor Ghostwhisper. "Leopardstrike, we need to get her home to bury" her voice again betrayed her grief, the death of the white wolf the first death with her as leader of Thunderclan. Gently nudging the cooling corpse, Rosestar silently apologized and picked up a mouthful of thick scruff, they needed to sit vigil with her and bury her as a warrior of the clan. She wasn't sure what the shaman would do, whether she'd choose to come with them or not, for now she was more focused on Ghostwhisper, once Leopardstrike had a mouthful she began slowly carrying the corpse back to the camp her usually fierce features tainted with grief. it was a long slow walk that seemed to take forever, her jaws starting to ache from keeping them dug into the scruff and carrying the heavy limp body. She Did her best to keep Ghostwhisper from dragging in the dirt or bumping along unceremoniously, what if she'd done something differently? What if she'd taken another warrior instead? Ghostwhisper might still be there signing as she always had, her eyes squeezed shut a moment and she tripped over a root managing to catch herself before she fell forward.

Dipping her head at the information that she had been trespassing, Song filed it away to keep in mind when she continued to pass through. Stepping back, she watched silently as the two other wolves began the painful process of dealing with their fallen, and followed them at a respectful distance. Figures lurked at the edges of her vision, and she knew better than to try and face them head on. Instead, she let them linger just out of direct sight until they became more fully formed, beginning to understand what danger was lurking in these trees. It wouldn't be safe for anyone else to come back here, not if they wanted to survive. Keeping those thoughts to herself for now, she kept pace with the other wolves. She couldn't leave the fallen champion, to leave in the middle of a vigil would mean that her spirit wouldn't be able to reach the ancestors where she belonged. Wondering if this tribe had a similar custom to her own of calling the spirit back home, she wasn't sure if she would ahve to do that or not. For now, she decided it would be better to keep quiet and not interfere. This was a stranger's tribe, and she was merely passing through, though she wouldn't leave until the fallen champion - Ghostwhisper - was watched over.

Leopardstrike barely registered Rosestar's voice; the warrior was still very distraught and plagued by guilt. She'd never get to welcome Ghostwhisper into the Clan, nor would she get to say goodbye. If she had been paying more attention, would she have been able to save her? She let out a sigh before bending down and grabbing part of Ghostwhisper's scruff in order to help carry her back to camp. She began walking forward along with Rosestar when the leader started to, her eyes staring down at the ground as she moved. She noticed that the loner was heading back with them, but still didn't pay her much attention. Although she didn't know why the stranger was here, it didn't matter now. Rosestar didn't seem to care, so Leopardstrike doubted that this wolf had anything to do with Ghostwhisper's death.

Rainstar trotted through the forest slowly sniffing the air for the prey that was around. She could smell many small prey scents but one that caught her attention was that of deer. Slowing her pace as it grew stronger the female dropped low and crept up as close as she dared to the herd looking to see if there were any injuried. With only two warriors to hunt such big game it would be the only way they could take one down and luck seemed to smile upon them as she saw a large doe limping at the edge of the herd.

Cherrypaw arrived shortly after Rainstar had, she limped a little forward and then crouched down next to Rainstar and watched the herd silently without making a sound. She glanced towards Rainstar upon noticing the limping doe but was worried that she wouldn't be much use. "So what's the plan?" she whispered to her leader. She lowered her ears hoping she would blend in better with the ground below.

Berrywhisker padded forward slowly, her thoughts remained on hunting for right now though for some odd reason she worried about Mustangspirit. She worried about him mainly because he was a friend to her and a fellow warrior. Seeing the prey before them she crouched down next to the patched fae on the opposite site the crippled apprentice crouched on. At Cherrypaw's question, she glanced towards Rainstar, waiting patiently for the patched fae's response. She was loyal to her Clan and knew what was best to do and she knew how to obey her leader's command. She was rather nervous because she saw a buck there as well and to her buck's were dangerous. "I have a plan. I'll chase off the rest after seperating the limping doe from the other while you two corner the doe. I'll circle back and we'll all take her down together." she whispered her idea.

Rainstar had been planning on sending Cherrypaw to hunt smaller prey but she nodded at Berrywhiskers words. "Very well. Be swift." she mummered softly. She only hoped that the buck went with the main section of the herd and not towards them as they cut the limping doe off. "Come with me Cherrypaw." she whispered nudging the red and white female leading her around with care to be closer to the injuried fae as snow began to fall slowly.

Cherrypaw limped after the patched leader Rainstar as silently and as slowly as she could, which was rather hard for her crippled paw began aching. At the snowfall beginning, she gulped nervously. Her crippled paw always ached around leaf-bare and leaf-fall time and when it was cold it ached more than anything. She glanced nervously around for Berrywhiser. The Ethiopian she-wolf always blended in with the ground no-matter if the snow was falling or not. The young apprentice was staring at the injured doe and awaited Berrywhisker's move with unsurpassed eagerness. She wanted to prove that even being crippled she could do something.

Berrywhisker snuck forward, stalking close to the ground to get ahead of the injured doe. She gulped nervously. She had never faced a buck before and she didn't want to do so right now. Carefully she snapped her jaws at the doe in front of the limping one and snarled. The small herd ran, but almost everything went to plan. The wounded doe bolted towards Cherrypaw and Rainstar, which was good because she planned it to. However the buck didn't run at all. The buck faced her off and kicked at the ground. Determined to protect Rainstar and Cherrypaw from harm, Berrywhisker attacked the buck, leaping onto his back and biting at its shoulder.

The buck bellowed and bucked its back up in the air like a mad bull and swung his antlered head around, trying to get Berrywhisker off. It then ran in the direction the other does had gone still trying to get the wolf of his back. But Berrywhisker dodged almost all the swings of the antlers. She yelped as one of the points poked her harshly. She then bit into the buck's neck. Blood sprayed into the air in droplets as she had punctured its life-giving artery. Blood rushed into her mouth and it tasted delicious. Stumbling the buck collapsed and Berrywhisker held on. Panting, she let go once the buck's body fell still.

Rainstars eyes widened as the buck turned on Berrywhisker but she couldn’t leave Cherrypaw alone to deal with the doe that was hurrying towards them. ”Cherrypaw go for her throat.” she ordered breaking away from the apprentice. She dove in from the side and latched onto one of the doe’s foreleg. With her tight grip it sent the prey crashing to the ground heavily. Once Cherrypaw was on its neck the patched female broke away racing over to where she could see the buck down with the other fae staggering to her paws. ”Berrywhisker are you ok?” she asked skidding to a halt besides the Ethiopian wolf.
