First topic message reminder :

A camp surrounded by interwoven brambles and thorns. The WindClan wolves sleep underneath the stars and have no need for dens, except for that of the leader and for the queens. The leader's den is a small, dead-end cave while the nursery is a large hole, buried deep in the ground.

FOXPUP
~~~
The little one continued to dash about the camp, snapping his little maw awkwardly at any birds that bothered to land near him. He'd been unsuccessful at catching anything of course... if anything he was more likely to annoy the feathered creatures to death - as well as anyone in camp. The pup stuck out his bottom lip as yet another bird flew away, and he furrowed his brows. "Hmpth." He exhaled through his nose, and pawed at the dirt, and then he pricked up his ears at the sound of a voice. Turning his head, he looked to see a ebony coloured wolf, with a white chest, and deep brown eyes. "What are you doing there, squirt?" They had asked. Foxpup let out another sigh, and his ocean tinged gaze lowered to the floor. "Hey Thornfur," The youngster yipped. "I was trying to catch birds." He answered, looking back up at the Warrior.
Heavypaw slunk into camp as quietly as he could, trying not to be noticed. He didn't feel like talking about where he went or what he did, he just hoped the small bath in the stream washed off the house-dog's scent. His belly growled and he eyed the fresh-kill pile, not much was left. Everyone else had the same idea. The apprentice looked around for his mentor, but couldn't see her anywhere. He clawed the ground in frustration. Who else can teach me to hunt? The young male trotted off into what little shade he could find and rested his body onto the ground, panting heavily.
The silver and cream female had been gaining weight over the past few months and had no real inclination of what was going on with her. Her cyan blue eyes spotted Heavypaw investigate the fresh kill pile then find a place to flop down in the sun, wondering if he wasn't eating because he hadn't hunted for the clan Lilacsplash got up and moved over onto him on tired paws a kind look in her gaze "Want to come out and do some hunting with me then Heavypaw? You look like you could do with something to eat" she quite liked the apprentice he seemed to have a good nature and was happy to help out although she wasn't quite sure where they should hunt the idea of getting out of camp was a good one. "Should we head out to the prairie then?" she asked the heavily set apprentice in her sweet tones. It was getting harder and harder to hunt with the strange weight she was growing and she was starting to get rather sensitive about the issue.
Heavypaw nearly jumped when he was addressed by a warrior in his Clan. "Oh, hey Lilacsplash," he greeted with a polite dip of his head. Glancing back at the now barren fresh-kill pile, his stomach let out another growl. He glanced down at his frame. Despite his name, he really wasn't fat or anything. He just had a thick pelt like his mother and the colors from his father. He was more muscle than anything, but for some reason they picked 'Heavypup' for him. Heavy what? Heavybelly? Heavystep? "Heavyheart" his mothers words echoed from his recent nightmare. Wincing, he shook his head violently to try and clear it from his memory, but to no avail.
He quickly remembered he was having a conversation with the young warrior and looked back up at her sky blue eyes, slightly embarrassed. Hopefully she didn't notice. "Yeah, that sounds good."
Without another word, he turned around and headed out of camp.
Flicking her tail a little watching the male she was amused by the growl of his belly, obviously he was just as hungry as he'd looked as he'd investigated the fresh kill pile. His gaze seemed to get a little distant after he'd replied, wondering what was going on in his head she studied him quietly, he wasn't built like a typical windclan wolf. If anything he appeared to look like a Thunderclan, built heavily with plenty of muscle. He suddenly winced and shook his head as if trying to dislodge a particular thought, she knew what that was like as she'd done it plenty herself. She smiled at him when he finally replied pretending like she hadn't noticed his distractedness at all, her blue gaze flicked to his back for a brief moment. He smells a little strange,but i shouldn't pry she couldn't really place the scent and it was quite faint and waterlogged so the silver and cream wolf didn't really say anything else. He turned about and headed for the place she'd suggested, Lilacsplash hadn't really paid attention that morning and so didn't know that there was already a patrol there as she followed suit.
Returning to camp, the black and silver Silverfern padded over to the rather sparse looking fresh-kill pile and set down her two offerings before licking her chops a brief moment. Her black pelt meant she was quite hot, however she was used to it and so instead turned about and padded to find a bit of shade to sprawl down in. Managing to find one such place she laid down panting heavily while her silver eyes became distant and almost a little sad. She missed her clan mates even the somewhat irritating Ashfall, but she couldn't talk to anyone about it. At the time joining Windclan to follow her heart had felt like the right thing to do but now looking back on it she missed Sunclan more than she thought she would. The one that held her heart and was fairly certain felt the same way had been nothing other than friendly which had cast doubt into her heart. Once she was cooled off her jaws snapped closed and she rested her head between her front paws closing her eyes quietly. Continuing to think on what was going on in her life.
The brown wolf was laying down inside of the clearing, finishing up a rabbit he'd selected from the fresh-kill pile. He'd taken note that it was quite low and decided that he'd go hunting later on if no one else restocked it. Once done with his meal, and after burying the bones, he sat back down in his spot. He tilted his head back in order to look at the sky, watching as fluffy white forms floated lazily about in a sea of blue. For a moment he wondered what it would be like to touch a cloud. In truth, he had no idea. Would his paw move right through it, or were clouds solid? It was an interesting thought, but one that was not very important.
Ferretdash was thankful that it was now greenleaf. He welcomed the warm, sunny weather. The only thing he hated about this season were the storms. Hopefully it'll stay nice and sunny out, he thought. He was absolutely terrified of thunderstorms and had been since he was a young pup. His father had once told him of a fire that was started by lightning. It had been a scary tale, and Ferretdash hoped that such a situation would never happen to the Clans.
Wanting to get away from the rest of the Clan for awhile, Beechpaw had found a place just outside of the camp that was well sheltered by tall grass. He hoped that no one would bother him; he didn't like conversation as he never felt like he was saying the right thing. He hated small talk, as well. That was the worst. His thoughts turned to his apprenticeship; Beechpaw had been an apprentice for about a moon now. His old mentor died of a sickness a few days ago, leaving him mentorless for the moment. He didn't mind, however. A few days without training wouldn't set him behind. He was showing prowess when it came to hunting, which Beechpaw was glad about. As a pup his brother had teased him about being weak and puny, but he was good at something after all. I wonder what it will be like to be a warrior. He had many moons to go, but an apprentice could dream.
(Sorry for the wait, Foxpup! And for the short post)
The sheepish look on the pup's face made something twinge in his chest. It was something unfamiliar, but after assessing it for a moment he identified the feeling as a mixture of pity and frustration. The pup had been unsuccessful so far and as a result he had given up. That wasn't the attitude of a warrior! Didn't speak his mind as he didn't want to discourage him. He was just a pup, after all, Thornfur reminded himself. "Birds, eh?" he quipped thoughtfully, a smirk dancing on his face. "Jumping straight into the deep end I see." Thornfur's tone had lightened now from somewhat feigned playfulness to a genuine interest in the small pup's game. He sat, pondering for a moment before an idea occurred to him. "You know, before you can actually catch anything, you have to perfect your technique and build up your strength. Show my your hunting crouch, mighty warrior!" Thornfur barked, curious to see how accurate of a stance mere instinct would allowed the pup to create.
FOXPUP
~~~
Foxpup's ears twitched as he awaited a reply from the older wolf, and he sat down, curling his fluffy tail around his hind paws. "Birds, eh?" The warrior jested, a smirk appearing on his face. "Jumping straight into the deep end I see." Thornfur added, and the auburn youngster gave a weak nod of his head, his ears flicking back for a moment. There was a quiet moment between the two, as both of the wolves thought of what to say, and Foxpup's gaze examined the camp once more. There were more wolves now, probably back from patrol or hunting. His attention averted back to the Warrior. "You know, before you can actually catch anything, you have to perfect your technique and build up your strength. Show me your hunting crouch, mighty warrior!" The ebony wolf woofed, and Foxpup tilted his head with a small smile. Now grinning, the little pup yipped back a response. "Well, of course!" Then, pricking up his ears, and swaying his tail, the pup attempted his best hunting crouch. It wasn't very good of course; his rear was too high in the air, and his paws were out of position, but he had tried.

(It's cool! Sorry for the bad post, had a bit of writers block.)

The feel of the soft grass beneath his paws turned into hard trampled area as he passed beneath the gorse barrier and made his way into camp. Wrenclaw then deposited his rabbit and hare onto the Fresh-kill pile. Turning his head, he scanned the camp, looking for any signs of his sister or the other wolves that had gone out on her patrol. He could see Embershard and Thornfur, however Lark was nowhere to be found. He glanced briefly at Thornfur and Foxpup, quite surprised that the usually silent and tough male was being so friendly and open to the smaller wolf. "Guess he has a soft side for pups," he figured, turning away to pad to another part of camp. Wrenclaw didn't consider himself good with puppies, their energetic and naïve nature too difficult for him to handle. Sure they were cute, but he preferred to watch them play at a distance.
Wondering where Larkstar could have gone off to, the male glanced over at Embershard, aware that the she-wolf had escorted their leader in the border patrol. He padded over to her, wanting to ask her whereabouts, but then deciding it might be a better idea to make casual conversation first. "Hey Embershard," he woofed, noticing how tired the fay looked. "How was patrol?" he asked, not minding making polite banter with the she-wolf. He was unsure of what Ember thought of him, knowing well that the she-wolf had been on the patrol that had busted him and Weedfang spending time together. Of course he had stopped seeing the Sunclan wolf since then, but there could be feelings of betrayal that still remained.

Thornfur chuckled to himself at Foxpup's enthusiastic attempt, watching the pup's rump sway back and forth in rhythm with his tail. "In the tall grass that tail of yours will give your position away straight away."He commented softly, also noting that his rear was sticking up into the air and his paws weren't in the best position to provide him with the most stability. Still, Thornfur was impressed by what Foxpup had been able to do by himself, and he hoped that it showed on his face. Thornfur adopted a crouching position himself, adjusting his position until he was side on to the pup to allow him the best view of the correct stance. Teaching him this was hardly as good as taking him out to actually try hunting himself; trial and error was the best way to learn from mistakes. But Foxpup was still too young and would have to wait until his apprentice ceremony to get into the real grit of his training. For now, this was all Thornfur could offer. "You've got to remember to make yourself as sturdy as possible on your paws," the largely ebony furred wolf remarked, crouching down to test the weight on his paws and demonstrate to Foxpup how to position them. "Otherwise, your centre of gravity will be off, and the wind could knock you right over." As a demonstration, Thornfur stretched his paw forward, poking the pup softly in the ribs in an attempt to throw him off-balance, much like a fierce gust of wind might do out on the moor. He didn't intend to hurt the pup, but he wanted to see if Foxpup could learn to correct his stance himself, rather than just blindly copying what Thornfur was doing. As said before, training was all just trial and error.

Embershard after returning to camp had made herself as comfortable as she was going to get, seeing Wrenclaw return from the morning hunting patrol she half watched him deposit his kill her thoughts turned again to Diamondfang. His disappearance had hurt more than the other disappearances of their clan, sure they'd been friends but there had been a little more than that on her side. Alone now she found she could relate to Honeybadger all the more now that she was on her own, in these dark thoughts a voice spoke to her and jerked her out of her somber thoughts  "Wrenclaw, good afternoon" the polite response something that was second nature to her. Yes she'd been displeased when she'd discovered him breaking the code, but that was behind them all now he hadn't been back to visit the sunclan she-wolf as far as she knew. So she presented him with a genuine smile, it must have been difficult for him, from what she'd heard the female in question had also gone missing so in a cruel way they had that in common. Remembering that he'd asked her about the patrol she grew a little grim  "Thats a tale all in itself I'm afraid" giving a soft sigh she scuffed a paw through the dusty earth of their camp "We discovered a pair of wolves that were like nothing we've ever seen before, they smelled like they were part of a pack and yet had names like us" Giving him a little strong look she added  "This will stay between us?" it wouldn't do to create a panic by telling everyone everything. Once she had his affirmation she continued  "They claimed they were part of Skyclan, after seeing them off Larkstar sought out Honeybadger to ask if she knew something and evidently she did as she took your sister out of camp with her" shaking her head a little in slight worry for the clan she told herself that Honeybadger would adequately guide their leader, Larkstar had a good head on her shoulders and thus she was content that everything would be alright. Glancing at Wrenclaw she asked  "And how was the hunting patrol?" she didn't wish to make the conversation all about what she'd seen as she disliked the idea of coming across self absorbed. [/color]

Returning to camp rather exhausted now she padded past Thornfur playing with Foxpup and went to lie down beside Ashfrost. Not bothering to eat she closed her brown eyes and almost went to sleep on the spot, she'd inform the medicine wolf once she woke back up for now she was too tired to be bothered. That and she'd done more talking in that one morning than she'd done all season thus far, stretching out in the sun like she'd finally snuffed it she was soon completely out of it and snorting a little raspily in the midday sun the warmth heating her body and keeping her comfortably warm.

Kaispirit had just finish eating when he felt a lick on his ear, he looked up to see that it was Lilacsplash. He cheesed like a pup, but answered her in greeting. "Good Morning Beautiful." He would have said more but she left to go with Heavypaw to do some hunting. When she was out of sight he frowned. He had noticed that she had seemed to be walking a little bit slower and seemed to put on some weight. He wanted to ask her about it to see if there was anything wrong. But he knew never to ask a she wolf about her weight. He learned that the hard way when he was a loner. He laid his head on his paws and simply listened to the ramblings of the clan talking about a skyclan. He didnt know clan history really at all so he had no idea what they were talking about. He just hoped that whatever it was it wasnt going to bring trouble.

She'd begun to suspect her feelings meant something a little more than she was reading into just before Silverfern had made the switch to WindClan, but with such a sensitive subject as this, Lilysong hadn't allowed herself to get her hopes up as she wasn't sure how Silverfern felt in return. She knew she'd made the switch for an important, heart felt reason, but Lilysong felt ridiculous to even entertain the possibility that it had been for her. Still, there was a small part of her that still clung to the possibility, hoping, despite her doubts, that there was some truth to her discarded fantasy. Padding into the camp, Lilyson's eyes instantly fell on Thornfur and Foxpup and she watched them as she deposited her kills onto the fresh kill pile. It was an odd sight, seeing her brother so engaged with one of the pups, but she didn't want to intervene. He seemed to be genuinely enjoying himself, and as long as he didn't accidentally hurt Foxpup, Lilysong was content to sit back and watch the spectacle.
Lilysong gazed at the fresh kill pile for a moment, hesitating before she picked up the scrawniest of her catch (the hare) and settled down in the shade to enjoy her meal. Sweeping her eyes across the camp she noticed that Honeybadger had just returned to the camp and that Larkstar was currently no where to be seen. How curious, she thought as she watched the elder collapse into a snoring heap on the floor. The sun was casting a blanket of warmth over the camp and Lilysong stretched her paws forward, inching them into the sunshine and soaking up the comforting feeling that the heat provided. She had some serious thinking to do and now, whilst the camp was relatively uneventful, seemed to be the opportune time to do it.

FOXPUP

The little wolf's ears twitched at the sound of laughter, and he looked up to see the obsidian and alabaster warrior chuckling at him. The wolf seemed to be impressed as he explained to the little pup. "In the tall grass that tail of yours will give your position away straight away." He stated, and shortly after took his own stance. Stooped low to the ground, the warrior turned to speak again. "You've got to remember to make yourself as sturdy as possible on your paws," He advised, causing the pup watch the positioning of his feet, and to correct his own; again it wasn't perfect as the pup hadn't had any proper hunting experience and wouldn't be able to do so until he was an apprentice, but it was an improvement at least. "Otherwise, your centre of gravity will be off, and the wind could knock you right over." At that moment, Thornfur stuck out a paw, and lightly poked him in the ribs. The puppy then let out a tiny squeak of surprise and almost stumbled, just managing to stay on his feet. Apologetically, he looked up at the warrior, flicking his ears back. He'd need some more practice for sure.

The air was quite balmy by the time she arrived back in camp. The sky was a serene blue and large billowy clouds drifted lazily along in the wind. It was indeed a perfect day to relax- if only she could relax. Larkstar still found her mind quite full of thoughts as she scanned the clearing, checking to see who was out of camp at the moment. The hunting patrol had returned, though she noticed that her apprentice Heavypaw and Lilacsplash were now absent. Lark frowned, not exactly confident in either wolf's ability to defend themselves. Heavypaw was strong, but he lacked much training, and Lilacsplash was a more delicate queen. Glancing around she spotted Honeybadger who had resumed her place in the sun, taking a well-deserved nap after the excursion from camp. "Well if she isn't worried about it, then I'll try to push it out of my mind for now," she thought, deciding to check how the hunting patrol went. Lark spotted her brother speaking to Embershard, and was rather surprised and pleased that the two seemed to be getting along well.
Noticing the warrior Lilysong lying in the sun, Larkstar padded over to her dipping her head. "I see you're back. How was hunting?" She asked, her tone friendly. Lily was a kindhearted wolf whom the leader trusted, and the she-wolf sat and waited patiently for a reply.

The little brown pup was doing well which pleased Thornfur greatly. He would have expected most pups to have gotten bored or at least distracted by this point, but he could see that Foxpup was actually absorbing the information and listening to his advise. A smile bloomed on his face as Foxpup stumbled from the "wind" but managed to remain on all fours, resisting his assault more elegantly than he had expected him to. He no longer felt even slightly irritated by the pup and instead something close to pride fluttered in his chest. It was an unexpected feeling and it hinted at a rather alarming conclusion; perhaps he didn't dislike pups as much as he'd previously thought. Either that or he just quite liked Foxpup in particular. He wasn't completely sure. Either way, he wasn't about to begin spending all of his time in the nursery, even if there were other pups in there, by it was a pleasant surprise nonetheless. He'd hit his 'pup quota' for the day, and whilst he was still enjoying teaching Foxpup, he knew that his enthusiasm would inevitably begin to waver soon. "Soon enough all the birds in the land will be within your grasp," Thornfur commented affectionately, his gaze wandering as movement at the entrance caught his eye. Larkstar had returned from her talk with Honeybadger. The she-wolf didn't look particularly troubled, but there was definitely a hint of something in her eyes. From this distance he could not discern what exactly, but he was willing to wager that Honeybadger had indeed been able to relay some information about SkyClan or something about the two wolves they had encountered at the border. He wanted to ask her what she had been told, but the leader had gone straight over to his sister and queried as to how the hunting patrol had gone. I guess that's a good sign, he considered privately, watching them for a moment longer before returning his attention to Foxpup. She would be more disturbed if she considered them a real threat.

FOXPUP
~~~
Despite his nervous and apologetic expression, the young canine looked up to see Thornfur looking quite pleased. Upon noticing his the pup grinned; behind him his tail began to wag, and his ocean eyes gleamed. "Soon enough all the birds in the land will be within your grasp," The warrior commented, and Foxpup's tail waved side to side even faster. "It's thanks to you, Thornfur!" The little one yipped and with a wide yawn the little puppy fell back onto his rump. He rubbed an eye with his paw, and rapidly blinked his eyes. All of the excitement from Honeybadgers story, his bird catching, and Thornfur's mini mentoring lesson had worn him out - but he didn't want to be tired! He stuck out his bottom lip and scowled, staring at the grass under his feet. It wasn't fair! He wanted to be apprentice already, but he was still too small and too young. Another yawn escaped his little mouth and he struggled to stay awake, despite his grumpiness.
