ThunderClan & ShadowClan Border

This wasn't the first time she'd slipped out of clan, yes it broke the warrior code she tried to live her life by but it was getting so difficult to be in camp with her brother the way he was, wandering along the shadowclan and Thunderclan border she sighed to herself kicking a pebble, her mentor had gone missing and Rosestar had yet to elect her a new one. All she wanted to do was learn and become the best warrior she could possibly be, instead she was stuck in camp while her brother was trained by Pigeonheart. Her ears perked forward as she noticed a squirrel, busy digging through the old leaf litter for acorns that had fallen from the tree. Having no training she did her best to do a hunting crouch and creep up on it, however the wily creature spotted her and zipped up the tree leaving her galloping over to growl at it while the cheeky thing taunted her. Her ears drooped as she heard it laughing at her, how stupid she couldn't even hunt a stupid squirrel, sitting down the pretty red apprentice closed her green eyes and sat there silently.

Nightstar was padding along towards the border when he spotted a red apprentice attempting, if one could call it that, to stalk a squirrel that was on Shadowclans side of the border. He chuckled along with the squirrel when it ran up the tree on her due to the lack of technic used by what seemed to be a new apprentice. "Your a long way from home." He commented gently stepping out of the forest and into the sun where she could see him.

Hearing a voice she leapt up onto her feet and stared at the large dark brown wolf covered in scars, wary knowing he was a shadow clan wolf she tucked her tail and flattened her ears a little submissively. The gentle voice however was quite disconcerting, looking up at him through her large green eyes the red apprentice swallowed hard. It'd been a few moons since she'd been made an apprentice, licking her chops anxiously she backed away from the male scared of him. She'd not come across shadowclan warriors before, and was considering turning and fleeing, yes that'd be a good idea. At least she hadn't crossed the borer while hunting her squirrel, "Well... good bye then" with that she spun about and started to trot of, a border patrol was due soon anyway and it wouldn't look good for her to be talking to a big scary dark shadowclan wolf.

Nightstar tilted his head at the apprentice and sat down as she went to leave. "I can show you where you went wrong." He offered scratching at his ear. Her tiny appearance made her seem like a puo especially one compared her to the brutes large bulk. If it had been anyone other than the tiny female he probably would have just laughed his muzzle off at the complete fail of a hunt but she got some admiration for being brave enough to hunt so close to the border.

If she could hear what the male was thinking she would have thought that there was nothing brave about hunting at the border, she'd never left Thunderclan land and hadn't done anything wrong. Guessing that he'd seen her attempt at a hunt her self esteem just lowered further, assuming that he was laughing at her on the inside she flicked her tail wanting to leave. She wanted to go back to camp, curl up in her nest and hide away from the world for a while. At the mention that he could show her where she went wrong she paused in her steady beat home and glanced at the stranger over her shoulder wondering why on earth he'd want to teach a rival clan apprentice to hunt. Her thoughts showed on her features, the pretty medium sized apprentices watching the male quietly, still frightened of him as she'd heard tales about shadowclan wolves she kept her mouth shut

Nightstar gave the small red fae a gentle smile as she looked back at him and lowered his head down so he seemed a bit smaller. "I wont hurt you if that's what your thinking little one." he told her lightly wagging his tail. "I promise I wont bite you." He wouldn't either he honestly wanted to help the small female who seemed so down like she needed some encouragement and he was willing to lead her a helping paw so she didn't feel so bad. He knew what that was like and the down feeling that came from it having never had a kind word spoken to him as a pup or apprentice. Even now he never got one and it was one of the reasons he had such a soft spot for Jesterpup because he was the odd one out of his family.

Studying him closely she watched as the male made a show of not being threatening, not exactly believing him she turned around to watch him while an ear flicked to the side listening keenly for the patrol that was due past at any moment. Studying the big brown wolf she very slowly made her way towards him and stood at the border although still a couple of lengths out of reach. The apprentice's red fur was wavy and made her forest green eyes stand out sharply, she had cream toes and a dark brown tail tip her markings a little similar to a fox. She would likely hunt best in leaf-fall when all of the leaves turned the same hue as her fur and fell onto the ground. She waited patiently for the stranger to tell her his name and to inform her how exactly she'd gone about hunting the squirrel wrong. She'd never been taught anything her mentor having vanished, she'd done the best that she could with the tools she'd been given.

He noted the way she kept a few lengths back from the border and gave her choice a small mental nod. She was keeping out of his reach which was a wise move especially since she had no clue on who he was. He stood and slipped into a stalking crouch with his scared side facing the apprentice. He had been in a few battles and skirmishes along the borders earning him the scars that mared his fur. "You need to keep you body low but still hold that curly fur of yours off the ground. Light steps are best when stalking rabbits or squirrels." He told her using his body as a visual aid. "They have good hearing and are some of the most paranoid prey in the forest." He stalked back and forth for her a few times before laying down facing her. "Why dont you give that a try?" He said with a tilt of his head.

Watching the way the scarred older wolf stalked up and down the border she tilted her head to the side somewhat soaking it all in. Listening to his words she carefully mimicked him and crouched down keeping her tail and belly fur above the ground so it didn't drag in the dirt. Pretending her feet were feathers she moved them daintily and set them down on the ground ever so gently as if they weighed nothing. Moving her weight carefully over the ground the apprentice's gaze fixed on a leaf not too far away from her, carefully she made her way over the ground and when she judged the distance was right pounced forward only to over shoot it a fair way. Frowning she moved and tried again, it took her several goes until she was finally triumphantly pinning the leaf down underneath her creamy toes. Returning to the wolf whom she now foolishly trusted as he'd shown her something her mentor had never done before she sat down on her side of the border and looked up at him wondering what was next

His green eyes remained locked on her small body ready to correct her but she had it down with a swiftness often not seen. When she finally got her pounce right and the leaf she had been aiming for was under her creamy paws he nodded his head to her as she sat on her side before him. "Sometimes you are close but not close enough for a pounce yet. Thats when you need to sprint and clamp your fangs around your prey. Why dont you try that?" He told her gently as his tail thumped the ground twice in encouragement. The way she soaked up the knowledge that he was offering her indicated that her training had been neglected by her mentor if she was a few moons older than the 6 needed to become an apprentice. If that was not the case and she had just become a paw then she was a daring thing to come so close to another clans border before she knew what she was doing.

Freezing as the scent of pigeonheart was carried to her she straightened up and stared at the large brown warrior for a moment before nodding her head and murmuring a thank you before she turned and vanished into the thick forest. At least she'd learnt something, pleased with what he'd told her she figured she could begin practicing that back at camp and later out on the territory once she was more confident. Wondering if she'd ever see the male who'd helped her again she paid it no mind and picked up the pace back to camp wondering if anyone had actually noticed her leave. Probably not, there wasn't anyone in camp who cared about her anyway, flicking her tail as she dashed home the red apprentice's mind was full of everything that was going on. Her thoughts however returned to the shadowclan warrior perhaps if she visited the border again she'd meet him again and he could train her some more? Yeah that sounded good.
~Thunderclan camp~

Nightstar caught the scent of the Thunderclan patrol just before the apprentice did and he gave a small nod along with a gentle smile.
"Your welcome little one." He told her as she sliped away. The large male stood up once she was out of sight, deciding to wonder along the border checking the scent marks as this particular area he was in was a bit of a blurry spot with not many clear markers. He left his scent mark in a few places to reinforce the border on the shadowclan side before bounding off. He did not want to talk with the Thunderclaners today not with the small apprentice on his mind. His paws turning into his territory the large male padded away wondering if the red fae would come back again for more training.

Trotting up behind Pigeonheart he finally managed to catch up and gave the other warrior a grin "Thanks, I thought i'd never catch up" he kept his tone light and friendly still very interested in bolstering good relationships with all of the wolves of the clan. That wasn't to say he was trying to be someone he wasn't he just genuinely believed that life was easier if you were good friends with the people you shared your life with. Sniffing around he padded forward before the smell of Maplepaw came to him, frowning a little in surprise he moved forward a bit  she shouldn't be outside of camp without a warrior present. Thats a rule and Maplepaw dosen't break rules rather she enforces them and keeps her snarky brother on a leash It wasn't until he moved forward that he smelt the fresh Shadowclan scent, the marshy stink making him wrinkle his nose somewhat at the disgusting smell.

He agreed softly when Pigeonheart mentioned that it seemed the shadowclan wolves hadn't crossed the border. The scent was thick and rather overpowering, he didn't exactly like it very much, sniffing Maplepaws some more he could pick up the sour scent of fear that faded into something else, remembering he was at the border for a reason more than finding out why Maplepaw was doing here. Obeying the order to renew the scent markers along the border "Yes you're right, It's rather surprising that she came out here, she's usually a stickler for the rules" he took his time wanting to do a good job. Soon enough Pigeonheart was done the male began to trot off before remembering he wasn't alone and deciding to wait. Rather thankful that he had he quickly finished off his jobs at the border and moved over to him once Pigeonheart was ready he headed back towards camp with him happy to trot along through the thickly forested areas of Thunderclan back to where their camp was well hidden nestled in the heart of the forest.

Padding up after her easy run through the forest, Bramblerose looked across the border with Nightstars fresh scent invading her nose. She couldn't see the male she'd become close friends with and she could feel her heart sink as she realized that he wasnt there and hadn't been there. The brief hope that'd thawed her icy heart flickered and then died, the ice retaking over her once again, sitting at the border to keep out of camp at least for a little while her thoughts drifted to how life had been as a pup. Things had been so different, she'd been close with her father and had played with him beneath the ancient oak tree, however spending time as an apprentice had divided them as she'd picked up the vibes between her mentor and father the red female had always been sensitive to that sort of thing. Now he was gone and a part of her regretted it, she often wondered what her mother Aurafrost would have thought about it all, infact she often wondered what she was like not really remembering much about her apart from her fathers name and her own. She raked her claws through the dirt idly half by digging until she had a neat nest in the ground to lay down in rather comfy there she sighed softly feeling rather empty again.
